High School Volleyball Takes the Court for the 2024 Season

By Michelle Tevington

Last Tuesday, the high school volleyball team traveled to Attica for their first game of the season. The girls worked hard all summer at conditioning. After taking a few weeks off, they got right back in the gym to start practice. Junior Varsity won their first game against Pretty Prairie. Varsity worked hard, but came up short at the end of the night.

Freshman Carey Russell said the highlight of her night was winning their first game. Russel has been playing for four years. Russell said the transition to high school volleyball wasn’t a big change, but she is looking forward to continuing to grow her skills as the season goes on.

Freshman Adalyn Irey enjoys playing front row on varsity. Irey has been playing for six years. She said that the team worked hard and, if they keep practicing, the team will get better. The varsity team played Argonia, Attica, and Pretty Prairie. One of Irey’s goals for herself this season is to work hard and get better at playing.
