Highschool Football vs Olpe

By Emmalee Burden

The Outlaws played Ople High School on Friday, September 13, 2024. They played in Caldwell, KS, and it was the first home game of the season along with Senior Night. Although the Outlaws fought hard they lost 7-27.

Senior Tanner Kelly stated, “Going into Friday’s game we knew it was gonna be a tough one, knowing they were state contenders. We had some injuries we had to replace positions which made it tougher on us but as the coach always says battle through adversity.”

The Outlaws had many injuries during and leading up to the game including Dalton Kelly, Tony Trillo, and Mak Blosser. This had a big impact on the game and definitely affected the outcome. Not only was there injury but there were many calls that were crucial to the game.

When looking to improving as a team, T. Kelly said, “I’d say we as players needed to get into a better role from the get-go. We started playing way too late, we were complacent and took away some of those penalties in big times. They were crucial to the team and coaches but you know we may have another opportunity to play them again and we gotta take advantage of it.”

They are ready for future games and are not letting this effect the rest of their season.
