On Thursday, September 19, the South Sumner Cross Country team competed against the other schools at Central. Most of the Outlaws were able to compete against the other teams, except for the varsity boys due to sudden rain.
The other runners who were able to compete did an excellent job as Avery Strickland placed third and Addison Heater placed fourth. It was a little upsetting the boys did not get to compete, but they will come back stronger at the next meet.
One of the Outlaw runners, Eli Buettgenbach, says, “I was upset I didn’t get to race but I think the other girls who did did really well.” Buettgenbach is a new student at South Haven and is in his first year as a part of the South Sumner team. His first meet was in Wellington on Saturday, September 14.
The South Sumner Outlaws did well at their Central meet and even if not everyone was able to race. We are proud of our cross country team and will continue to cheer them on for the rest of the season, go Outlaws.
