On September 14, 2024 the South Sumner Cross Country Team ran at Wellington. The sixth and seventh grade kids ran a mile, the eighth grade kids ran a two mile, and the high school kids ran a 5k.

Carlee Heater, an eighth grader at South Haven Schools ran the two mile at Wellington. Heater has been on the cross country team for three years and participates in many other activities. Like all the athletes, she has many goals for the season.

Heater says “I want to run an 11:30 two mile and be able to run fast.” She also says she looks forward to winning.

The middle school team is getting larger with two new eighth graders, Heater and Makinzie Trillo as our eighth grade girls, and Gabe Crampton, who has run previously, and Cooper Stanfeild as our eighth grade boys. There are numerous other runners on the middle school team as well. 

The South Sumner Cross Country Team still has a lot of the season ahead of them and we are excited to see how the season goes and how far the team will go!
