2024 Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant Has Been Great for Business

By Gabriel Moncivais

At Medicine Lodge, Kansas, The Annual Peace Treaty, along with the Reenactment of the Signing Pageant, has lead to an exciting crowd to come over. Even people from different countries were interested in going with many vendors, a great downtown show, food trucks, and the event everyone loves, the Pageant.

As what should be stated, the Pageant only comes on once every three years, making the events surrounding the pageant not as busy since those events come on annually. As for more detail, the Pageant is the reenactment of the signing of the Peace Treaty in Medicine Lodge and other histories that come after it.

The treaty had the Americans and the Five Native American Nations, Apache, Arapaho, Comanche, and Kiowa, go into agreement that the Nations and America would have peace with each other. Now, every three years, the community holds a reenactment of the signing of the Peace Treaty.

As for the other event that happen annually, the Peace Treaty Powwow, which is the same five nations, along with other nations that attend, comes together and dance along with a beat of a drum and hold contests which contains a good prize. It is also a place where you can see Native-American-run vendors selling all types of clothing, jewelry and food.

As for the size of the crowd that was drawn by the pageant, Medicine Lodge has an extremely busy, but successful year, including the vendors. For the next year, it will be more calm and will be more relaxing for the next two years.
