Meet Your FFA Officers

By Michelle Tevington

These are the FFA Officers for the 2024-2025 school year.

Brady Russell – President

Brady Russell is a senior at South Haven and this year’s President.

Arallai Wartick – Vice President

Arallai Wartick is a fourth-year FFA member and this year’s Vice President. Wartick is involved in math relays, FCCLA, NHS, vice president of her class, track, basketball, and volleyball. Last year, Warick placed third individually at National Land Judging.

She looks forward to attending the national convention and competing in homesite judging this year. Her first time competing in land judging it started pouring rain out of nowhere. Once everyone was back on the bus, it wouldn’t start. Last year, Wartick was the historian for FFA. She looks forward to taking on a larger role as Vice President.

Maddy Ferguson – Secretary

Maddy Ferguson is a third-year FFA member and secretary. Ferguson has had lots of success in FFA. She competes on various teams, so why not list a few of them? She was on the third-place greenhand rituals team as the president, the third-place greenhand team at the South Barber Livestock judging contest, and seventh-place individual senior state land.

Ferguson is not only successful through FFA. She is also involved in math relays, volleyball, and softball. As a freshman, she pitched her first-ever no-hitter for the South Sumner Softball team. After high school, she plans on studying agribusiness.
Few fun facts about Ferguson I think you should know. She is deathly afraid of chickens. She had a pet raccoon, they’re also her favorite animals. She ate the hottest wings at Buffalo Wild Wings after a livestock judging contest.

Annabelle Burden – Treasurer

Annabelle Burden is a fourth-year FFA member and the ‘24-’25 treasure. Burden is also involved in math relays, FCCLA, JETS, NHS, track, cross country, basketball, and is a cheer caption this year. Last year she went to nationals for land.

This year she’s going to state an SAE of growing and selling plants. During National Land, the team went to Dave and Buster’s. She said that the best part of the night was “Ax throwing with Earl.”

Kelly Theurer – Reporter

Kelly Theurer is a junior at South Haven and this year’s reporter.

Coal Vanzant – Sentinel

Coal VanZant is a junior at South Haven and is a sentinel this year.

Avery Strickland – Jr. Advisor

Avery Strickland is a third-year FFA member, this year’s junior advisor, and head of the scrapbook committee. Strickland is also involved in Math Releys, Scholars bowl, NASA, Band, FCCLA, JETS, and is the vice president of her class. Not only is she in a bunch of clubs but she also runs Track and Cross Country. She is also a member of the South Sumner cheer team. Strickland brings home quite a few trophies for the South Haven FFA chapter. She won a scholarship to attend the Washington Leadership Conference, won 5th place at the South Central District Creed Speaking, was a part of the third place junior rituals district team, and the third place South Barber Livestock Judging Team.

Strickland enjoys helping younger students with their contest prep, so much so that she has considered being an Agricultural Teacher after high school. Stickland is most excited about having an Entomology team this year. #Shelovesbugs
