On the cold, brisk night of January 17, 2025 there was an upcoming game with many fans in the stands, snow still on the ground and wind whirling around, everyone bundling up, trying to stay warm. The opponents were tough, but the girls were ready to fight. With a loss the previous week before, they had some fire in their souls ready to take yet another win.
On that Friday, the South Haven Lady Cardinals played against West Elk with a score of 38 to 25. They played at their home court in South Haven. There were two quarters of Girls Junior varsity, followed by Boys Junior Varsity. It was a very exciting game, even exciting for the fans who were cheering on the Lady Cards. One fan, a cheerleader for South Haven, Sydnie Rae, says “ It was a very enjoyable game to watch and the amount of back and forth had most people on the edge of their seats. The girls did a good job and everyone liked the turn out of the game.”
The athletes played their very hardest to make sure they would take another win. These athletes are always putting in their best effort and they did that once again with this game. One athlete, Kelly Theurer, put in her best effort by hustling down the court, diving on the court for balls. Theurer says, “When the game got hard, I tried to keep calm and not let it get to me.” This is very useful, and is an important part for the game. Without this key part, it would make the games hard and would not help the teams in any way
These girls have pushed themselves quite a bit this season and they expect great things this season. Although they’ve faced multiple injuries and a lot of pain, they continue to push themselves and work hard everyday. They make sure that every practice is meaningful and even on the bad days these girls push themselves. Make sure to continue to give support to the teams and cheer them on throughout this season.
