JH Basketball Game Against Oxford!

By Claire Minor

On Jan. 30, 2025 the Junior High South Haven Cardinals played against Oxford! Unfortunately, the JH South Haven Boys ended up losing a close game with the score being 41 – 44. On the bright side, our JH South Haven Lady Cardinals won 34 – 4!

A seventh grader at South Haven Schools, Will Nixon, has been playing basketball for three years. Nixon is a point guard and wing for the South Haven Cardinals. Nixon said that his favorite part of the game was when he made a three-point shot. Nixon said that the game went well because there was noticeable improvement compared to the game they played against them earlier on in the season. With that being said, Nixon thought that the team was prepared. When asked what part of the game he would have changed, Nixon responded, “To be closer up to the person who hit the game winner.”

A seventh grader at South Haven Schools, Ashlyn Mraz, has been playing basketball for two years. Mraz said that her favorite part of the game was when they won while showing good sportsmanship and effort. Mraz thought that the biggest challenge of the game was trying to get the ball back without getting it turned over or facing foul trouble. If Mraz could change one thing about the game, it would be to have better defense, boxing out, and hustling.

Based on the scores and answers, the South Haven JH Basketball teams are showing improvement in their performances!
