On Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, there was a basketball game at South Haven Schools which hosted Senior Night for all of our senior Cardinal athletes! Senior Night is an amazing opportunity to shout out the hard working senior students for how far they have come in their lives with their athletic, academic, and personal achievements.
When it comes to Senior Night, they usually tend to stick to the senior’s future goals and plans. The seniors that were mentioned were Aubrey Pond, Rahlee Colwell, Grayson Kuchar, Tanner Kelly, Alex Shore, Brady Russell, and Colby Irey.
About our Cardinal Senior Athletes:
Aubrey Pond: Aubrey Pond is a cardinal basketball player, and is the daughter of Sarah and Justin Pond. Pond has been a member of the South Haven basketball team all four years of high school while being a team captain since her Sophomore year. Pond’s favorite memory at South Haven was going to State and helping her sister’s dream come true. Pond’s plans after graduation are to attend Southwestern College where she will major in nursing while also being a part of the Lady Builders basketball team.
Rahlee Colwell: Rahlee Colwell is a Cardinal basketball player, and is the daughter of Mack and Ashley Colwell. Cowell has been a member of the South Haven basketball team all four years of high school. Colwell’s favorite memory at South Haven was going to State Basketball the past three years. Colwell’s plans after graduation are to get her bachelor’s degree in Political Science, then get her Law degree.
Grayson Kuchar: Grayson Kuchar (AKA Corky the Cardinal) is a member of the Cardinal Cheer Squad, and is the son of David and Jami Kuchar. Corky is a bird of few words, but he wanted us to read this for him.
As a 5th grader, Grayson had a dream to bring a school mascot to life. With community help, a new mascot costume was bought. For seven years, Corky has been cheering to crowds and occasionally creeping out a few people. Kuchar said “Thank you all for the memories. Becoming Corky has shaped me into who I am and I will never forget my time in the suits at South Haven. Next year, look for me at Cowley College wearing Tiger stripes.”
Tanner Kelly: Tanner Kelly (AKA Cheeseburger) is a Cardinal basketball player, and son of Tyson and Angela Kelly. Kelly has been playing South Haven basketball from first grade to 12th. Kelly’s doesn’t have a favorite memory at South Haven because there are way too many to single just one out. Kelly’s plans after graduation is to finish getting his nondestructive testing degree and get out in the field to make money.
Brady Russell: Brady Russell is a Cardinal basketball player, and son of Eric and Missy Russell. Russell has been playing South Haven basketball from first grade to 12th. Russell has too many favorite memories and coincidently seems to have a sheriff involved in all of them. Russell’s plans after graduation is to attend Butler Community College and get an associates degree in diesel technology then return back home and join his father in the family business.
Colby Irey: Colby Irey is a Cardinal basketball player, and son of Chris Irey and Amber McCaslin. Irey has played South Haven basketball from fourth grade to 12th. Irey doesn’t have a favorite memory, but he would just say the bonding of him and his teammates and having fun is his favorite. Irey’s plans after graduation is to get his associate’s degree in non-destructive testing.
