The South Sumner Outlaw track team competed in two track meets this week. The first meet was at Central on April 29, and the second meet was in Wellington on May 2. All athletes worked hard and tried their best and there were many outstanding players at both meets.
At Central, for the boys, Maddox Pond got first in the 400m and second in triple jump, Dalton Kelly got second in discus, and the boys 4x400m team got second place.
For the girls, Avery Strickland got third in the 800m, Ayleigh Nixon got second in long jump and triple jump, the 4x200m relay placed second, same as the 4x400m relay team.
Overall, South Summer boys placed fourth and the girls placed third at the Central Meet.
Their second track meet of the week at Wellington on May 2. They tested out a lot of new events they wouldn’t normally do. They worked very hard to learn the new skills and tried their best. Freshman Brody heater said that, “Most people tried their hardest to learn the new events and put the effort in.”
The results for the boys: Maddox Pond got seventh in long jump and fourth in triple jump, Dalton Kelly got fourth in Discus, Tony Trillo got sixth in discus and fifth in shot put, and the boys 4x400m team got fifth. =
For the girls results: Avery Strickland got third in the 3200m, Kelly Theurer got fifth in long jump and fourth in triple Jump, Sydnie Goebel got fourth in pole vault, and the girls 4x400m team got fourth.
Overall, all the athletes worked hard and if you get the chance to go watch them compete I would do so.
