The Homesite Team Digs Their Way to Nationals

By Annabelle Burden

On April 29, 2025 the South Haven Homesite Team set off to Oklahoma for National Homesite. This isn’t the first time the South Haven FFA has made their way to nationals, They have been four consecutive years. They were in a four-way tie where they ended up getting twelfth overall. This year wasn’t as good as last year but they still got thirty sixth overall.

This year’s Homesite team has consisted of Arallai (Earl) Wartick, Annabelle Burden, Kelly Theurer, Brady Russell, and Addison Heater. All these participants have been to nationals already, last year’s team was Wartick, Burden, Theurer, and Heater.

Some of the participants were asked what they enjoyed most about this trip, and Theurer said, “The banquet because of the food and being able to see how many people were actually there.”

Participant Wartick, who was third overall last year, said “Doing the I’m so hungry trend… By the way I’m so hungry I could eat Aunt Carolyn.”

Lastly, the only senior on the team, Brady Russell, said, “Getting to bond and have fun with everyone who went.” Although the competition didn’t go the way they hoped, they still had fun and got to learn new things.

Overall, all these participants all worked very hard on these competitions. We hope to see them excel in future competitions. We also hope to see future teams do well in land judging and homesite.
