On September 18, the South Haven Junior High Volleyball Team played West Elk at Caldwell. Olivia Winter and Ciara Billington coach the girls.
Junior Varsity won their game, but both Josie Ferguson and Natalie Colwell agreed that the team could have communicated better. When asked why they play volleyball, both girls answered the same thing: it’s a fun sport that they love.
Varsity, on the other hand, lost their game. Despite this, Kylie Thompkins, who has played volleyball for four years, says, “We played like we were on fire, and we were very energetic, and hustling for the ball. Like, each time you would look away, we were running off the court just to get the ball over the net.”
A volleyball player since third grade, Natalie Betzen thinks the team played well and says she wants to improve on keeping the team positive.
The Cardinal volleyball team plays again on September 22 at 4:00 pm in Oxford.
