HS Football vs. SE Cherokee (ft. Caldwell’s HOCO): Another Win Under The Outlaw’s Belt

By Claire Minor

On Sept. 19, 2025, there was a high school football game at Caldwell where the South Sumner Outlaws played against the Southeast Cherokee Lancers. This was an absolutely amazing game and even better since the Outlaws won 50-19! The crowd was roaring with cheers and applause due to the Outlaws making some unexpectedly good plays in the beginning of the game.

One of the four captains on the team, Mak Blosser (#2), is a Junior at Caldwell Schools. Blosser is a quarterback on offense and a safety on defense for the Outlaws. Before the game even started, Blosser had hope in the team, believing that they were going to win, saying “If you don’t believe in yourself to win in any game the possibility of you winning will go down.”

Blosser thought that the entire team was in sync with hardly any mental mistakes. Blosser thinks that he did extremely well and that it was one of the few times where he could walk away and not think of any negatives regarding his actions. On top of that, Blosser also thinks that the team played very well, physically flying around and hitting people.

However, he said that the team almost played too fast and made them miss a couple tackles. Blosser felt that he, along with his team, were prepared going into the game and was comfortable with how they played during practice.

Blosser thought that the two biggest challenges for the Outlaws in this game was tackling and their mental state towards the end. For the tackling, he said that they would lunge and get off balance. For the players’ mental state, he said that the Outlaws were already up by so much that the team didn’t try as hard and they just wanted the game to be over. When asked if he could change one thing about the game, Blosser said that he wishes that he didn’t throw a bad pick.

Blosser described the Lancers as a decent team that could have kept up with them if the Outlaws didn’t come out so hard and fast. But even if the Lancers weren’t a decent team, every win for the Outlaws is something to celebrate.
