Pre-K and Kindergarten Learn About Fire Safety

By Jayden Woodfin

South Haven’s youngest students had an exciting day learning about fire safety and exploring a real fire truck! The visit gave students the chance to see firefighters in action and learn how to stay safe.

Pre-K student Harper Strickland said her favorite part was “the truck.” She especially enjoyed getting to sit in the front and learn “about driving.” When asked if she wanted to be a firefighter when she grows up, she replied, “Yeah! I want to have a firehouse!”

Kindergartner Samuel Resendez was most excited about “Sonic,” saying that was his favorite thing to see. While he doesn’t plan to be a firefighter, he said he’d like to become a police officer one day  and mentioned he enjoys collecting Sonic toys.

Another kindergartner, Trip Theurer, said his favorite part was “spraying the hose.” He shared that he learned “to get out of the house quickly” in case of a fire.

From big trucks to safety tips, the fire department visit was both fun and educational. The students had a great time learning about firefighters and what they do to help keep the community safe.
