Ownership in Action: Student-Led Conferences Showcase Progress

By Hydie Goans

On October 23, 2025, high school and junior high students were required to submit a conference that they had led to present their future aspirations and dedicated desires at South Haven School.

Makenzie Callison, a junior here in South Haven, did her Student-Led Conference on the October 22 at 5:30 P.M. “My conference went well,” she said. “Missy Russell was my teacher who was the main person grading me, and my parents were there in Missy’s classroom when I was presenting.” She explained that she had received an A in the presentation, so she felt she had done better.

Brooklyn Henry and Terran, both 7th-grade students. Presenting to David Hole, a middle school English teacher. Henry explains, “I feel like I did pretty well, considering that it lasted almost 20 minutes, but I wish I had more information on my slides.” Terran says, “I feel like I did pretty nice, I wasn’t exactly thinking about adding more to my slides because I think I didn’t need anything else.” Love all the confident students in our school!
