On November 10, 2025, the third RISE and SHINE took place at 8:10 am. This month’s RISE and SHINE focused on being thankful for everything you have and everything you do have.
The game this month was rock, paper, scissors, but with a twist. Everytime you lose, you have to cheer the winner on until they lose too. Junior high students Jude Zavala and Carson Goeckel both took part in the rock, paper, scissors challenge. Zavala thought that the game was “pretty cool, and lit.” Goeckel, who nearly made it to the final four, believed that “gaining a fanbase” was the best part of the game. That was because “it was nice to get cheered on and have people supporting you.”
The lesson, about being thankful, was sophomore student Alana Grillot’s favorite part of RISE and SHINE. Grillot thought that the lesson truly “motivated me to be thankful for everything that I have and what I don’t.” The thing that Grillot is most thankful for is her “friends and family, because of how much they support and love her.”
The next RISE and SHINE will take place on December 1, 2025. The lesson and game to be determined.
