Last Tuesday, South Haven high school students went to Caldwell for Math Relays.
The students say they wish they could have done better, with some getting less than 10/20 on their tests. Tennyson Dark, senior, took senior team tests by herself, word problems, and calculator computations. She placed sixth in the senior team tests and fifth in calculator computations. When asked why she does math relays, Dark says “I’ve always liked math.” In the future, Dark says she’d like to participate in League coming up.
Freshman Cheyenne Engle says she enjoyed her time at math relays despite not doing so great in her tests. “I didn’t place any of them,” Engle said. Engle also noted that after the teachers finished grading, a dance party came on. “We did Church Clap, and Fishing in the Dark, Cotton Eye Joe. Did a bunch of line and swing dances.”
Overall, it may not have been the best meet for math relays, but participants say it was fun.
