Starting Scholars-Bowl: With The Freshmen!

By Hydie Goans

On November 11, two freshmen girls start scholars-bowl with questions that are confusing to them: Jayden Woodfin and Trista Metzinger, both ninth graders in South Haven High School.

They left around 1 p.m., were at West Elk for five hours, and returned home around 10 p.m., having the ride to at least two hours to and from South Haven. What a long drive for the Highschool Scholars-Bowl teams!

Woodfin recalls getting one question right about Bug’s Life, learning about it from her friend. Being on the Junior Varsity team, her team was Brooklyn Dvorak, Cheyenne Engle, and Courtlyn Cullens.

Trista Metzinger, a varsity girl, whose team was Tennyson Dark, Avalin Hughes, Witney Goebel, and Emilia Cabral, said, “Both teams lost, but we went home early, so I’m not complaining.”
