South Haven Schools Celebrate Veteran’s Day

By Claire Minor

On Nov. 11, 2025, South Haven Schools had an assembly for the elementary and JHHS students during the third hour of school to participate in a Veteran’s Day ceremony. Veteran’s Day is dedicated to honoring all of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, celebrating their service, commitment, and sacrifice for the well-being of their country.

To start off the assembly, principal, Zane Aguilar welcomed everyone and explained what Veteran’s Day really is and what an honor it was to have the amazing group of Veterans joined at the school. The events in order following the welcoming were the posting of the colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, a JHHS band performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful”, a speech delivered by Judy Hill regarding her and her families’ experiences, a South Haven choir performance of “Thankfully”, the presentation of the Quilt of Valor, the introductions of the attending Veterans, all of which was ended with a closing given by superintendent, Daniel Farley.

Veteran’s Day is not just a holiday, it’s a time for communities to come together and show respect and appreciation for those who have protected and fought for their country.
