S-H-S Spelling Bee; A Bee-utiful Competition

By Trista Metzinger

On the morning of Jan. 5, elementary and middle school students participated in a school spelling bee in the North Commons. Elementary winner is fourth-grader Kailee Orocio with her runner up Rowdy Theurer. The middle school winner is Lyla Wiiest with her runner up Lila Kupka.

The competition was nerve-wracking, as anyone who attendeded will tell you. However, Orocio says it was still fun. “I just like them because you get to be in a competition and I’ve never been in a competition before.” Her winning word was “collect,” which Orocio reports confused her a bit due to having, “two different spellings in my head.”

Winners will be going to the Sumner County spelling bee.
