Ben Russell, former member and officer of the South Haven FFA Chapter, receives the FFA American Degree on October 26, 2024, at the FFA Convention. The FFA American Degree  is the highest degree in the National FFA organization.

Russell started the FFA in the eighth grade. He was also an officer during his junior and senior years in the role of Sentinel and Jr. Advisor. During his sophomore year, he started his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project which was renting ground and which he grew and harvested wheat and soybeans on. In 2022 he became runner-up at the State Proficiency Awards.

On October 26, 2024 he goes to the 97th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, to receive the American Degree with others from all over America. This degree is given to less than 1% of FFA members. The last time someone from South Haven received this degree was Seth Brown in 2019. Congratulations to Russell and all other FFA member who have received this award.
