Native American Student Association is Growing

By Gabriel Moncivais

South Haven High School’s Native American Student Association (NASA) has gained more members who want to learn more about Native culture and experience said culture by attending Powwows and learning how to make native jewelry.

As of August 18, 2024, NASA was able to take interest in two members who either have some native heritage or would like to learn more history about the culture. Two of the members are Madyson Stafford and Haley Burkhead-Barr. These new members seemed to be very interested in learning and participating in NASA.

“I would love to learn more about making more native jewelry and dreamcatchers, and going to powwows and selling stuff. It seems fun,” Safford says.

NASA would be more than happy to accept anybody, no matter of race, to join and learn the Culture of Many Native American Nations.
