On September 28, 2024 the South Sumner Football Team played Hutch Trinity at home on Friday. The boys lost to Hutch Trinity with a very close game that went into overtime. The game ended with a loss 28 – 30. The boys worked very hard to defend the opposing team and win the game, but barely missed it.
The game lost to a crucial two point conversion. The game was tied up at the end of the game and the teams went into overtime. Both teams had a chance to score and make the most points.
First up was South Sumner; they ended up scoring a touchdown, then went up for their two point conversion, but failed. Next up, Hutch Trinity, who also scored a touchdown, went for their two point conversion and scored.
The starting line up consisted of center, Tanner Kelly, left guard, Dalton Kelly, left tackle, Brady Russell, left end, Maddox Pond, right guard, Colt Schmidt, right tackle, Tony Trillo, right end, Coal Vanzant, wide receiver, Layten Caruthers, tail back, Colby Irey, wide receiver, Alex Shore, and quarterback, Mak Blosser. Our senior captains that game were Russel, T. Kelly, Irey, Shore.
It was a tough game and a sad loss, but hopefully the boys can come strong and ready at our next home game against Medicine Lodge. The next upcoming home game is our homecoming game so make sure to come out and show your support to this wonderful group of boys.
