On Saturday October 26, 2024 the South Sumner Cross Country team ran at Bishop-Carroll for Regional Cross Country. When it comes to regionals, the combined team, which consists of Caldwell and South Haven, has to separate by school for the Regional and State meets. The South Haven girls placed first place as a team and Addison Heater and Annabelle Burden placed top 15. Eli Buettgenbach also placed in the top 15.
This is Buettgenbach’s first year at South Haven but his third year running cross country all together. When asked why he runs he says, “I run because I enjoy it, I think it is fun and it challenges you mentally.” Buettgenbach has done very well this season, medaling in all his races. On Saturday, he placed 12th, which is what punched his ticket to state.
This was the South Haven Girls Team’s second time making it to state as a team. This is very exciting for the girls since they all push themselves to give out the best they can. Heater and Burden are juniors this year, medaling right next to each other with Heater at 13th and Burden at 14th. We can’t wait to see what these girls do next year and what they do at state.
