Border Queens of Round One

By Carley Russell

The Queens of South Haven showed up on the court to defeat Argonia.

Junior Kelly Theurer mentioned “The first half was rocky and pretty slow, but after halftime we picked up the pace and started to play more like a team.”

The Lady Cardinals took the lead in the first quarter even though it took several possessions on both sides before somebody scored the first point. South Haven’s top scorers were Aubrey Pond with twelve points, Adele Helsel with eleven points, and Theurer and Adalyn Irey with eight points.

Even with the success, the Cardinals could be found working through their problems. Senior Aubrey Pond stated “We made mistakes over and over again but that is why we succeeded.”

Good Job Lady Cards, you ruled the court and good luck on the next game.
