Prairieland Partner Speaker Comes To South Haven Schools to Talk About Scholarships

By Claire Minor

On Apr. 9, 2025 a speaker from Prairieland Partners came to South Haven Schools to talk to the students about who they are as a company, what they do, and the opportunities that they offer.

A little bit about Prairieland is that Prairieland and AgriVision have actually been one company since January of 2022. AgriVision is Prairieland’s brand that they have in stores. Prairieland is family owned, there are 1000+ employees at the company, they are one of the top five dealerships in North America, and they are located in 32 different locations that mostly cover the Western corridor of Iowa, central and eastern Kansas all the way up to Nebraska, and a little bit in Oklahoma.

Prairieland’s purpose is to lead agriculture and rule America, so everyday they are striving to do all sorts of different things along those lines. In tough situations, Prairieland has guiding principles. Those principles are integrity, leadership, courageous innovation, and performance. Which means that they want to do the right thing, always try to find a way, and try to keep everything in check.

The main reason why Prairieland partners showed up to South Haven Schools was to discuss the scholarships that they are offering to the students. They have four program options: scholarship, reward, diesel tech, and AgTech. Their scholarship program is basically where they are going to help you pay for your school as you go through it. The reward program is more of paying your bill after your schooling instead of while you are doing it. Both program options are really similar, so in the end you get the same outcome. Their Diesel tech program is a little more open schoolwise, whereas the AgTech program is more school specific.

If you take a scholarship with the company you are going to receive on-the-job training at one of their store locations and schools. How that works most of the time is where you split your school and work 50/50. If you take an internship in the company you are going to get John Deere tools on a discount and you will receive more benefits as a part-time employee.

Once you commit to the program, if you go through the process, you are interested in being a part of the team, and you are a good fit for the job, you can actually start earning $17 an hour when you are working in their dealership. One of the positive things about this is that it is pretty GPA based, which can increase income, along with some graduation bonuses.

You do not have to be graduating to think about this. They do technology solutions, mobile work, saleswork, accounting, finance, ag hardwear, data management, etc. They have options, so if you are interested, don’t hesitate to reach out.
