On September 4, 2025, the South Sumner Outlaws Cross Country team had a strong start to their first ever meet in Clearwater.
A member since her freshman year, junior Avery Strickland said that teammates placed in 8th, 10th, 13th, and 18th. Strickland herself placed 13th in the two mile. When asked if she was happy with how she performed, Strickland said “No, but that is okay. I will keep working.”
Another member of the team, freshman Landon Goeckel, has been a part of cross country for years, with this being his third. When asked why he decided to become part of the team, Goeckel said, “Because I could?”
Overall, the cross country team has a strong start to this season and encourages everyone to come watch their next meet in Wellington on September 13.
