Red Ribbon Spirit Week Recap

By Jayden Woodfin

Red Ribbon Spirit Week has opened doors at school where students participated in different activities to highlight the need to stay drug-free. The week started with a guest speaker, along with dressing up, and scavenger hunts, and all activities of the week were well enjoyed and thought about positively.

Michelle Tevington, a junior, declared that her favorite of the week was the guest panel. “I think that the panel presented some very good information and probed the idea of staying sober through reason and answers,” she commented. Tevington was especially thrilled to listen to the state police officer who imparted worldly knowledge concerning the hazards of addiction. She did not take part in the dressing-up days or the scavenger hunt but she appreciated the message of the week’s activities.

Another junior, Sophia Trillo, sensed the week’s spirit through another way. “Dressing up was my favorite and only activity,” she mentioned and then added that Halloween was the most fun day to do so. Trillo found the guest panel very interesting but was annoyed that she could not partake in the scavenger hunt, jokingly saying, “WHERE WAS MY SCAVENGER HUNT?”

Maddox Pond, a junior too, said his favorite activity was nothing but sports. He did not dress up but told that Miss Cindy Blunk was his favorite speaker. Sadly, Pond had to cut his scavenger hunt short because of an accident. “My legs hurt!” he kidded.

To sum up, Red Ribbon Spirit Week was a chance for the students to not only learn but also engage in activities, and reflect on the significance of healthy, responsible choices and at the same time have fun.
