On Thursday, Apr. 9, 2026, South Sumner track travels to Central/Burden to compete. This is their second track meet this season, and they’ve come back even more prepared and ready to win.
Seventh grader Natalie Betzen ran the 800m, 4x400m, 1600m, and long jump. Betzen’s favorite event is the 1600m, because she gets to sing the whole time and she like long distance. Her favorite thing about track meets and racing is “getting to know people” and “the adrenaline the races give you.”
Jace Friedmeyer, an eighth grader, thought this meet was pretty fun. He runs 100m, 200m, and 400m. This is Friedmeyer’s last year competing in middle school. He says that he will miss the easy competition and practices once he moves up into high school.
The Junior High South Sumner Outlaws compete again on Tuesday, Apr. 14 at Oxford. Betzen hopes she can pr and get some gold medals this upcoming meet.
