On Thursday, Apr. 23, 2026, the High School South Sumner track team traveled to Norwich, KS, to compete in track and field. The team has been practicing and competing for over a month, and by the looks of their results, it’s paid off.
Avery Stickland, a junior distance runner from South Haven, competed in the 1600M, 3200M, 4x100MR, and the 4x400MR. Strickland placed first in the 3200M, second in the 1600m, and fourth in the 4x400MR.
Strickland’s take on this meet was, “The weather really brought us down, it was extremely hot and windy.” She also thought that the whole meet was “just really off” and that she is going to come back next week ready to redeem herself.
A junior student from Caldwell, Keelen Eaton, had placed fourth in the 4x400MR alongside Strickland. Eaton also got fifth place in the 400M dash. Her take and opinion on this meet was much like Strickland’s, with the wind and heat playing a huge role in affecting the results.
The South Sumner Outlaws compete again on Apr. 27, in Central/Burden.
